Owning my Mazda 6

Not much here really, just some links and and details of mods I have done. I tend to try and keep the car as orginal as possible but try to make it a little differant. I will also post any details of faults in case it helps someone else. The page is growing so please check back often.

.

My Mazda I purchased my Mazda from TW Whites & Sons in Great Bookham. I purchased it back in Sept 05 brand new. It managed to get mats, mudflaps and tank of fuel as part of the deal. I checked the car over before I actually paid the full amount and noticed some damage to the body work, this was solved and, with the exception of a small rattle (which i solved) all has been ok. There have been a few niggling fauls which I will detail on the site.

Mods I have done a few mods to the car, but only small things. I added a pair of stainless steel exhaust pipe trims, these were from Mazda Parts UK, discounted. I have fitted some LED interior bulbs, these are "Ice Blue", they have 5 White LEDS with a Blue in the center. They brighten the interior up and offer a slight blue tint. They don't get hot and use less current and provide a crisper bright light so they are helpful. When I sell the car, I just pop them out and if I don't need them, I can eBay them off.

I also got the genuine kick plate trims, these were from eBay for about £50, Mazda want almost £200 for them! I also have a Mazda bootliner which I also got discounted from Mazda Parts Uk.

Trouble at mill Had the Climate Control lossing its settings, solved this by waiting a few seconds before cranking the engine, the dealer was unable to solve it.

Had noisey clock spring behind the air bag, dealer unable to provide perminant fix but assured me it was common and not safety issue. Also had alarm sensor changed to solve the alarm going off and had a washer jet changed.

Servicing I use TW's for servicing, its had its first service last Sept, the clock is showing about 7,000 miles (Feb 07) and I need to top the oil up a little and change the rear wiper blade. It seems to be coming away, just phoned up the dealer and they are posting one to me.

Detailing my Mazda When I have nothing better to do, and the weather is good I like to get out and give it a good clean. I do a "quick" wash once a week and a full wax about 3 times a year. I also like to detail the tyres during the summer and try to keep the exhuast trims polished when time permitts.

Detailing Kit Shampoo - Snow Foam (Elite); Wax - Turtle Wax Extremel; Sealant - Autoglym Resin; Tyre walls - Turtle Wax Tyre Gel; Meguairs Metal Polish for the exhaust trims and I use a Meguairs Clay bar once a year. I use Autoglym products for the interior trim and glass. I use shampoo to clean the alloys rather than acid based cleaners.

I have a Foam Gun from Elite and use a Meguairs Lambs Wool mitt, this means I can clean the car very quickly with out having to full a bucket with suds. I simply cover the car in foam, wipe over with the mitt and hose down.
